This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Imagine a world where every child has the tools they need to thrive. Unfortunately, for many students at our school in Albuquerque, New Mexico, this is not the reality. As a new first-grade teacher, I see firsthand the adversities my students face, including poverty and homelessness. For many of them, school is more than just a place to learn; it's a safe haven where they can be their true selves.

I am reaching out to you with a heartfelt request.

The items I am asking for through DonorsChoose will provide my students with a chance to feel like children and experience the joy of learning through play. Items like magnetic tiles, rock stacking sets, and fidget toys allow students to engage in beneficial, hands-on learning. Basic supplies such as folders, whiteboards, popsicle sticks, storage bins, and a hot glue gun will spark their creativity and set them up for academic success.

Moreover, I am requesting a rug to transform our classroom library into a cozy, inviting space for reading. This dedicated reading area will offer a calm, focused environment where students can develop essential literacy skills that will serve them throughout their lives.

Your generosity can make an immeasurable difference. By donating these supplies, you will not only provide crucial materials but also instill hope and inspiration in young learners. Remember the opportunities that propelled you to success and consider giving my students the same chance.
