Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a struggling, high needs, urban neighborhood in New York City. Our school is a warm, nurturing environment and the children enjoy coming to school. I am currently teaching eighteen, lovable preschoolers who are curious, funny, loving and eager to learn. The parents of our students are working hard to make a better life for their families and desire a stellar education for their children.

My little ones are curious, imaginative, loving, creative, honest and cute.

The community is diverse and considerably lower income. The children I teach are all eager to learn and are enthusiastic. My classroom is comprised of children who are learning English and also with children who have different abilities.

My Project

We need a sensory center for our pre-k classroom! I am requesting the chance to make different colors of oobleck with the children.

Oobleck is a non-Newtonian liquid that acts like a liquid when at rest and like a solid when put under pressure.

Children love making oobleck and they can play with this sensory material for days.We can use our light table during center time to explore our five senses with our oobleck as we play, create, and become capable, curious investigators.

I am also requesting go pals for the children to explore in the water table so they can experience a bright, fun sensory activity. Glo Pals are liquid-activated light-up sensory toys. Each doll has their own personality and color. The Glo Pals bring magic into ordinary, everyday activities. Pippa glows green, Alex glows yellow, Lumi glows purple, Sammy glows red, and Blair glows blue. They are cute little rubber dolls with bendable arms and colorful personalities.

Lastly, I am requesting a mesmerizing, mixable, feel-good foam fluffy stuff. Playfoam is non-toxic, gluten free, nut free, and never dries out and comes in flip and flow storage containers. Playfoam sticks together when compressed but does not stick to your hands. The children would not only received sensory developmental but would have so much enjoyment from this material.

Sensory play provides a unique learning experience that is totally “hands-on” and exploratory. The children will be able to explore the world while having fun. Sensory play supports language development, problem-solving skills, social interaction and is a good way for the children to relieve stress. Please consider donating to us!!
