Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Movement helps children learn! Children with special needs especially have difficulty maintaining focus for an extended period of time when they are sitting still. That is why I am trying to incorporate sensory exploration and task-oriented movement activities in my speech therapy sessions.

Help me give my students speech therapy materials that allow for sensory exploration and movement activities.

edxeducation Step-a-Trail will help me create an obstacle course, which my students will complete as part of a multi-step task. Task-oriented movement activities will involve speech, language, problem-solving, sequencing, planning, and execution, which my students need to improve.

Lakeshore What’s Inside? Soft Feely Box includes sensory objects for children to feel and explore, and the box itself can be used for other purposes. I would reutilize it as a mission box for task-oriented movement activities.

Lakeshore Fine Motor Forest Friends is a toy tree with animals that children can pop in and out. This is a perfect tool for teaching spatial concepts and working on multi-step directions.

These materials will help me prepare speech and language activities embedded with sensory motor processes. My students will have an easier time staying on task, and improved attention will lead to larger gains from therapy. Thank you for considering a donation to this project.
