Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am requesting sensory materials to help my students increase their ability to self-regulate, which increases the students' ability to focus on academic tasks. The majority of my students are on the autism spectrum and, at times, it is difficult for them to focus to the task at hand. They have many different interests and that is why I am requesting a wide variety of sensory materials.

I am requesting items such as puffer balls, Hexbugs, fidget spinners and pop tubes, because these items are effective in calming my students, which increases attention span, which leads to academic growth.

The vast majority of items I have requested are sensory materials, however, I'm also requesting puzzles as many of my students are visual learners. These puzzles are a good starting point to improve visual performance and problem-solving skills. Eventually, these skills can be scaffolded into more advanced problem-solving and academic skills.
