Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have an amazing group of kids! They are in a self-contained autism class. They have very diverse backgrounds and learn in unique ways. My students may not have the same access to materials as other students, but that shouldn't stop them from getting the same education and exposure to the same material. Sometimes my students can't sit in a group for any period of time without assistance. The materials I asked for will assist them in being able to focus longer in a group and also be more independent with their learning!

My Project

My students need assistance with focus and sensory needs. The alternative seating will assist the students during group and individual learning to pay attention and get their sensory needs met at the same time. It will allow them to bounce at their seat and reduce the amount of time they leave their area for sensory breaks. Studies have shown that students using ball chairs were able to sit still, focus and write more words clearly.

Hand held fidgets help students to Keep their hands busy and quiet and assist them on focusing on the lesson.

If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn-Ignacio Estrada.
