My Project

I am looking to build a sensory hallway for students who need a break to regulate their emotions during the school day. In Kindergarten, there are a lot of big feelings and many students have never been in a school setting before. Providing a space where they can move and spin and jump for 10 min. gets them more meaningful work time in the classroom. I love giving kids the opportunity to take a break and I think knowing when you need to take a break is a valuable life skill that many children are still working on! Having a positive behavior plan with built-in breaks helps lots of kids be successful in school! We have a sand table currently that the kids love but if we had some more items such as spin chairs, sensory floor tiles, and stepping stones I think it would be even more enjoyable.
