My students have sensory needs and a sensory gym is a wonderful way to address these needs so that the students are ready and able to focus on the social, emotional, and academic demands of the school day.
Our sensory gym currently includes a number of active components - trampolines, stepping stones, etc, - but after students participate in these activities, a calming sensory experience is very helpful to transition the students back to the demands of the academic day.
Sensory lights provide a natural border to separate the calming sensory space from the active space in our gym, and they are unique and interactive.
