Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

All the amazing students at our facility are significantly impacted by their autism. They love being outside, digging in the dirt helping plant and care for our Sensory Pollinator Garden.

The requested tools will allow more students to participate at the same time while expanding our gardens.

The Garden Cart is necessary to carry all our tools around the facilities grounds since we are creating several sensory flower and vegetable gardens. We have a great space for the green house so we can start working with our students to plant seedlings and learn to care for them before transferring to our garden. The students pull/dig up weeds, churn soil with hand trowels, and care for plants. The tasks to create and care for the sensory gardens are also part of the students' jobs they complete each day/week. They get paid each week and use their money to purchase desired items from the store.

We have a long term goal to expand the Sensory Pollinator Garden each year throughout the grass field with paths to walk or run through.
