Sensory Garden for Growing Minds & Bodies

Help me give my students the items needs to serve there sensory needs as well as educate them about composting and caring for there own garden. Items needed would be swings, composting, lawn care, and outdoor games.

My Project

My students are in 15-21. They are in 9th grade through post graduate programs. Students participate in Autistic Support programming including academic, life skills, and community job training. They’re always ready to explore something new and love hands-on activities. This year, we are building an outdoor classroom and sensory garden. The goal is to create an environment that can be calming and educational. I’m requesting several materials to help us build more stations, maintain raised beds, and swell as learning space seating for students. I am requesting a swing to help students self-regulate, a composter to be able to compost our own food scraps to nourish the garden, a rain barrel to be able to have water more accessible to the area, outdoor or jumbo games to be able to have social skills activities/lessons that are more durable in the space. We will also need seating and storage outside utilizing tables and benches. Lastly the electric mower will help us teach job skills and allow the kids to help maintain the space. This garden will appeal to all 5 senses.
