My Project

A sensory garden can be a wonderful resource for students with disabilities, providing them with opportunities to engage their senses and enhance their learning experiences.

Students will touch and feel different textures of plants, soil, and stones, helping to develop fine motor skills.

The diverse scents of flowers and herbs can stimulate their sense of smell and promote relaxation. A sensory garden will serve as a calm space for students who may feel overwhelmed in traditional classroom settings. Engaging with nature can support mindfulness techniques, helping students focus and reduce anxiety. Students will work together in the garden, fostering teamwork and communication skills. Students will involve local community members in the maintenance of the garden, which can encourage social connections and inclusion. Students will learn about plant biology, ecology, and sustainability through hands-on gardening activities. Planting, weeding, and watering can help improve physical coordination and strength. The sensory garden will Incorporate different surfaces (like gravel, grass, or sand) in the garden can provide unique sensory experiences that promote physical awareness.

Students will engage in community service by sharing the benefits of the garden with local residents, fostering a sense of responsibility and community spirit. Students will organize events in the garden that encourage families and local residents to participate, promoting awareness of the needs and capabilities of students with disabilities.
