My students are kind, creative, determined, passionate, multilingual and multicultural. Every day, their determination to succeed in my class inspires me to continue teaching despite the difficulties in school currently due to COVID. My students are 11-13 years old. Some were born and raised in Providence while other students were born in countries all around the world, from Nigeria to Guatemala. Not only are my students navigating the world as adolescents, some are also learning a new language and a new culture here in Providence. In addition to their passion to succeed academically, my students inspire me everyday as kind and thoughtful humans, who just want to be accepted as they are. My students are the world's future engineers, teachers, doctors, and blue-collar workers that deserve only the best classroom resources to succeed in the classroom and also in their futures.
My Project
These materials are useful for all adolescent students but will specifically benefit my students because while I teach a regular-ed class, I have many students with academic learning disabilities and as well social, emotional, and behavioral accommodations.
These gadgets will serve as anxiety-reducing, stress-reducing assets during instruction but will also serve as rewards for positive, respectful behavior and work completion.
Especially during COVID this year, students are not able to share classroom resources. If this project gets funded, each student will have personal resources they can keep as theirs during class time.
