Help me give my students flexible seating options with different types of furniture including stools, stability balls, and floor cushions for them to choose from.
I am in the process of creating a classroom that can be an ideal place where students come to feel safe, accepted, successful and challenged! Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. Unfortunately, seating options outside of the standard desk chair are not in the budget for our low income school. I have a few flexible seating options in my classroom, and I would like to offer a wider range of options so that my students can choose the learning environment that works for them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating.
The variety of seating options requested (stools, stability balls, and floor seating) will blend with the options that I already have in the classroom to allow all of my students the opportunity to take further responsibility for their learning.
They will have the option to choose a seat that will allow them to move and meet their diverse sensory needs without distracting others, all while completing their work. Energy will be released, sensory needs will be addressed, and students will remain focused. This project will set my energetic students up for success while keeping them fully engaged!
