My Project

We are asking our donors to help keep our classroom sensory-friendly for this school year. We always need to refresh our sensory items, and DonorsChoose helps us be successful in fulfilling this need. We are looking for new lighting in the form of twinkle lights that can be hung safely on the wall. We would also like some new bean bag chairs, as our old ones were flat and started loosing their filling. We are also looking for new noise-cancelling headphones, as our current ones are starting to fall apart. I would also like to provide each of my students with adapted shoelaces to help them be independent with successfully with tying their shoes. After a full year of use, we need new pop-it fidgets as well as new sensory chews (which we go through a lot of when our friends are seeking oral sensory input). We would also like to continue to support our students' love of exploration and appropriate gameplay by having the same mini Perfection game that our traveling speech pathologist shared with them, as well as a Pop The Pig game. We are in need of a new carpet sweeper, which the students love to help with jobs in the classroom. The carpet sweeper is a perfect alternative to a vacuum cleaner because it is quiet and does not startle them. The students also need less gross motor coordination for using a push sweeper instead of a broom/dustpan. We would also like some snacks for our students to enjoy.

My students are always seeking sensory input.
