My Students

Most of my students come from a rural low-income community and all qualify for Special Education assistance through an Individual Education Plan.

All students need to have their social-emotional and sensory processing needs met to be in the right state of mood to learn.

My goal is to have items in my classroom that give the students what they need to be successful.

My Project

When it comes to learning, students have to have the right mindset to learn. Many of my students have many sensory concerns that impact their learning. To keep these students focus on academics, they have to have sensory time to stimulate their brains. When they don't have this opportunity, it could lead to emotional and physical behaviors. My project is helping students have a variety of activates so they can work on their senses but also learn how to handle their thoughts and feelings appropriately. Research says that students can't learn when they are upset or frustrated.
