As a new kindergarten teacher, I'm eager to create an enriching experience for my students and support their sensory development throughout the year. By incorporating activities into my classroom routine, I will create a stimulating environment where the children can learn and grow through sensory exploration.
Here are some examples
Sensory Bins: Create bins filled with materials like rice, sand, or water beads for tactile exploration.
Art Activities: Use different textures like cotton balls, feathers, or yarn in art projects.
Outdoor Play: Encourage outdoor play with activities like digging in sand, playing with water tables, or exploring nature.
Music and Movement: Incorporate music and dance to engage auditory and kinesthetic senses.
Calming Corners: Set up a cozy corner with soft pillows or weighted blankets for students who may need a break.
Sensory Paths: Create sensory paths in the classroom using mats or sensory tiles for tactile stimulation.
Cooking Activities: Engage taste and smell senses through simple cooking activities.
Visual Stimulation: Use bright colors, visually stimulating toys, and interactive displays in the classroom.
Outdoor Nature Walks: Take nature walks to explore different textures, smells, and sights.
Yoga and Mindfulness: Introduce simple yoga poses and mindfulness exercises to help children regulate their senses.
