Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

All students deserve to learn in an environment in which they feel safe and supported. However, the typical classrooms are not friendly to students with disabilities which causes them to get easily overwhelmed by their surroundings. My students need to experience learning differently but they still have the desire to learn.

The light table and translucent manipulatives will be an engaging way to access the curriculum in a more sensory-friendly way while still engaging in the age-appropriate play their young minds desire.

The fish tank tube will assist in regulating their emotions when my students feel overwhelmed and overstimulated. I will use the Fiberoptic light curtain to assist in the sensory area when a sensory break is needed. Some of my students look for outside sensory input such as vibrations so the vibrating pillow, ball, and massager will give them the sensory input they need to continue their learning.
