My Project

I am a third-grade special education elementary school teacher working with the occupational therapy department to create a Sensory/De-escalation room for our students.

The Sensory/De-escalation Room will be a kid-friendly and calming space for students to use to reset and take needed breaks to return to the learning environment ready to learn.

This room will be used by students in grades Pre-K through fifth grade.

The tube lights, fluorescent light covers, star projector, and essential oil diffuser will create a calming environment. The building block wall, wall light panels, and stress balls will provide our students with different ways to tap into their multi-sensory needs.

The items in this project have been selected to provide our students with stress-relieving and multi-sensory materials to calm feelings.
