My Project

Have you ever encountered a child who can not express themself to you, but will point or touch your arm while trying to express themselves? Having visual pictures helps my students learn how to point to what they want when learning to express themselves. The binders would be used by non-verbal students who need more support in the classroom to express themselves. Visual supports are essential in a special needs classroom and my students will get the opportunity to use their "voice".

My project will benefit my special needs students by providing them with the tools needed to find their voice as well as supporting their sensory needs.

Many of my students are sensory seekers. The materials in this project such as the kinetic sand will support their sensory needs. Students will have the ability to touch the sand and be able to mold it then knock it down. Having a bucket of fidget toys will be essential in my calming area so my students can have a choice when seeking sensory input.
