Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a Title I school. My class consists of 12 students who have mild to moderate disabilities. This class focuses on Academic, Career and Essential Skills. Our classroom has a mix of students with different abilities and grades varying from first grade to third grade. Although our kids are frustrated on many different levels, I hope to strive and create a classroom that is supportive to each and ever child. A classroom that is fun, exciting, and encourages exploring and learning.

My Project

These tools will help support our students with disabilities. The weighted vest will provide our students with Autism a safe feel and sensory input. The wobble chairs will give our students the ability to move without distracting themselves or others. The writing tools will support our pre-writers with an outlet to form letter across a straight line. The recorder buttons will provide our students with repeated directions and encourage them to speak in complete sentences. With the use of the silence headphones some of our students who have hearing sensitivity will be able to travel comfortably through the school building. Lastly, the social skills and living skills activities will help our students develop these important skills.

Students with disabilities learn differently and it is imperative to support their learning with the use of specialized tools.
