Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Help each of my preschoolers get their own sensory bin. Sensory bins are important for child development as they engage multiple senses, stimulate fine motor skills, promote language development, and foster social and emotional skills through hands-on, open-ended play. By each of my students getting their own personal sensory bin we are helping them in endless play and the use of the sensory bin any time they feel the need to, without having to wait for their classmate to finish playing or not being able to have an opportunity due to running out of play time. Sensory bins allow children to explore different textures, temperatures, and materials, stimulating their senses of touch, sight, hearing, and smell. Manipulating objects within the bin, like scooping, pouring, or sorting, strengthens fine motor skills essential for everyday tasks like writing, dressing, and eating. Sensory bins provide opportunities for children to describe what they are doing and seeing, expanding their vocabulary and language skills. Sensory bin activities can be done individually or in groups, fostering social interaction and cooperation.
