My Students

I'm an Autism Spectrum Disorder teacher, also known as ASD. I have a class with approximately 11 students, which includes ten boys and one girl I teach in an inner city school . My school has the bare minimum when it comes to supplies for my students. I try to fund raise as much as I can but it's just not enough Many of my students live in poverty and or foster care . Some of my students only meal is here at the school .

Many of our special education students don't feel loved or cared for due to their disability .

This is my reason for asking for a donation to help fund our classroom by donating enough money to buy sensory items to help with their Sensory needs. They can put their disability and differences behind them while feeling comfortable in their own classes.

My Project

These items will make a huge difference with sensory play. Since sensory play especially for those with Autism. It increases their problem solving with the five senses such as touch, taste, sound, sight and smell. Sensory helps the brain develop because when a sense is engage in their neural pathways is assist with learning years later.

We use our five senses that we were born with, but those on the Autism Spectrum Disorder have difficulty processing everyday sensory information.

Any of the senses may be over and under sensitive or both at different times. Their sensory can affect their behavior and can have a profound effect on a person's life.

Ms. Laing Miami Central Senior High School Grades 9-12
