Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am an ESL teacher in an integrated co-teacher setting with special needs students at a high school in Elmhurst, Queens.

All of my students are English language learners, half of which have learning disabilities in reading and writing that also reflects other content areas.

Many of them are audio and tactile learners and require manipulatives and activities involving movement and multiple sensory usage to keep them engaged.

My Project

I need stamps, erasers, small toys, stress balls, and other items. The stamps are to help track and mark student work. The small toys and erasers will be used as incentives for our current behavior management rewards chart. Lastly, the stress balls will be used for students with attention issues in the classroom who need something they can touch in order to keep them stimulated and focused on their work instead of distracted by others.

By getting these donated items, my students will have more resources to keep them focused and engaged in the lesson and minimize distractions.

I will have less issues with behavior management, thus enabling me more time to deliver lessons and teach.
