My Students

My students walk into the classroom excited and ready to learn every day. Every one of them is unique in their own way. Each student has a disability and they are in a self-contained classroom. They come from a variety of economic and cultural backgrounds. They enjoy every aspect of school whether it is mastering a new skill, interacting with other students and teachers or just being together in their classroom singing and learning.

My students work hard every day and do so with smiles on their faces.

They take great pride in everything they do. They continue to inspire me every day and making teaching so much fun.

My Project

The materials will allow my students to remain in their areas and aid in coping with overstimulation. During whole group time, some students need additional aides to help with sitting still, remaining in their area or just to calm down in a stressful situation. Using sensory toys such as bubble pops, twirlers, or puzzles can help with keeping them on task and staying focused as well as not distracting other students.

The materials will also help with reinforcement during individual work time.

The students are motivated to work for sensory toys and see them as a reward when they are doing well. They love to build so LEGO kits and blocks are a great way to reward the students for completing tasks and keep working on skills.
