Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our children are dreamers. They are eager and motivated to learn. They come from families who are hard-working, and they are teaching their children that same motivation for learning. Many of our families fall below the national poverty levels; some experiencing the situation of being homeless or are home insecure. In addition, English is a second language for the majority of our families or they are bilingual households.

Every child deserves a great start.

Our children deserve no less than great. Our children are getting ready for kindergarten, and it is our job to prepare them! Having the right materials and devices is a large part of preparing students for school success!

My Project

Our sensory table bit the dust this year. By bit the dust I should say it fell into pieces as we attempted to clean and empty it and it is no longer usable. A sensory table is a crucial item in a preschool classroom. A lot of learning goes on here. Children get to explore with their senses and a lot of cooperative play must be learned and occurs here.

I can sense the need for a new table and I hope you can too!

When my students start back in the fall, I would love to have a new table ready to greet them. I'd hope they wouldn't even know it was missing! We fill our table with sensory materials like sand, water, plastic beads, rice and so much more throughout the year. In addition, we include things like pots and pans so children can mimic cooking. My favorite thing to hide in the sensory materials is something that encourages children to count. This year we hid gold coins and metal tins with numbers and children found the correct number of coins to gather in the metal tins. Sensory play and learning at it's finest! We would love your help in meeting our goal.
