My Students

I am a Speech-Language Pathologist working with special needs students in a Title 1 school. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and have a variety of special needs. They have disabilities ranging from developmental delays, to autism, to intellectual disabilities. All of my students have goals in many different areas and at many different levels.

My students are working to build language, follow directions, participate with their peers, and gain functional communication skills.

They are in various classroom settings ranging from all special needs, to an inclusion based preschool program. I work with my students within their classroom as well as in my speech room and always need a lot of tricks in my bag to keep them engaged and growing at all times. While our gains may seem small, they mean a lot to all of us and their families.

My Project

Having these hands on speech materials will help my students to engage all of their senses. Having materials that they are able to see, hold, and manipulate will get them excited about learning. They will travel through classrooms, schools, and my speech room. Having options to choose from keeps each lesson fresh, exciting, and engaging for students of all levels.

When using these materials my students will identify objects, label items, ask and answer questions, request, dig in sensory bins, sequence stories, and participate in endless language opportunities.

These items will be used in many ways, with many different children. The opportunities for language and communication are endless!
