My Project

Navigating the school day (or the hallways), especially in a school with over 2500 students can be overwhelming for anyone, with or without a disability. Students need a place where they can participate in sensory experiences to get back to a regulated, calm state.

The goal is to provide a sensational area of varied experiences where students can sit on the mat, explore the squish mats, play with fidget items to relax, or jump on the trampoline if they have excessive energy- so they can find their inner calm, focus, and be ready to learn.

I encounter around 50 students a week; between my caseload and the students in the special education classes with a variety of physical and developmental disabilities such as cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, and Autism. These students may face some challenges, but what makes them special is their drive to improve, and ability to celebrate every success in the classroom. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
