This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have the privilege of teaching six amazing students in grades K-2. They are sweet, energetic, and full of wonder. All of my students have communicative disorders and deficits in social as well as cognitive domains. As one of their first learning experiences, I strive to create an environment that is safe, fun and engaging.
It is inspiring to see these students reach milestones that one might take for granted.
With the right support, the sky is the limit for my students!
My Project
Children use their senses to explore their world around them. The best practice is when students use hands-on experiences and engage their senses. Learning opportunities that promote children to use their senses is paramount to brain development as it helps build nerve connections in the brain’s pathways. Simply put this leads to supporting language development, social interaction and problem-solving skills. Please help fund a water/sensory table as well as sand trays and sensory sticks for our class. The class is comprised of six K-2 aged students on the Autism Spectrum. These items would help promote social skills as well as critical thinking.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
