My Project

My students are all students with special needs and each one of them has different, yet wonderful qualities. I get to see them grow and evolve through the year. I have the joy of seeing them make some small gains that we celebrate and some very big gains that we celebrate. I’ve been a special education teacher for over 20 years and no day is the same with the students, but each day brings me joy.

Studies show that teaching social-emotional learning (SEL) practices to students help students to self-regulate inside the classroom.

The requested fidgets and sensory items will help all the students I service. I have students who have diagnoses of ADHD, ADD, and autism to list a few. These items help the students have something to do with their hands while trying to listen or participate in group activities, as well as self-regulate.
