My Project

Students learn so much better when they are able to touch and feel things. A sensory table is a perfect opportunity for students to do this. It is also the perfect opportunity for students to explore math concepts such as measuring and counting. The movements required to manipulate the materials also help to develop students' fine motor skills.

These new sensory tables will students to use all their senses to learn and explore.

During our clothing unit, there will be water in the tables for students to wash their clothing. While we are exploring our building unit, we will put kinetic sand in the tables for students to build and mold with. During other students throughout the year, we will include other sensory materials for students to explore. For example, during our tree unit, we will fill them with leaves and sticks. During our ball unit, we will fill them with sensory beads and balls. Having these sensory tables will make changing the sensory center out every theme easy and keep students engaged throughout the year.
