Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Teaching kindergarten is the best job in the world. It is rewarding both professionally and personally. I love to see my students faces light up when they learn something new. As small as it may seem to us, like opening a milk carton, each accomplishment is great in the life of a five year old.

My students come from all kind of backgrounds.

Some have two parents, some have one, and some are being raised in foster homes or by grandparents. Every child deserves the same chances in life. Most of my students receive free lunch and some even live at poverty level. Despite these conditions, I work hard to provide every chance they need to be successful to my students. With proration at hand, budget cuts, and the possibility of no extra funds this year for supplies, teachers will be spending a lot of their own money to have materials. We would be so thankful to receive some new literacy activities to do in centers. A lot of our day is spent doing literacy centered activities. My students work individually, in groups, or with a partner while I teach small groups. They choose games and activities for skill building to stay occupied during this time. I know they would be thankful to get some new choices to keep learning interesting and motivating.

My Project

That is where you come in! I am requesting two alphabet sequencing puzzles, blends and digraphs learning tubs, and a rhyming center. These activities will help my students build phonemic awareness skills and reinforce phonics skills. My hopes at the end of kindergarten is that all my students are successful at something in my classroom!

I want to thank you in advance for taking the time to read our proposal.

Our classroom has been very blessed through donors choose and it is because of people like you. My students are better served through this wonderful organization. Thanks in advance for making dreams of classrooms everywhere come true!
