This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many of our seniors at are first-generation college students stepping into new experiences with limited resources. Despite the challenges they face, they demonstrate incredible resilience, ambition, and determination to pursue higher education. To support their transition, we are creating College Survival Kits with essential supplies, including USB drives and Dove body wash.

USB drives are a crucial academic tool, allowing students to store and access important documents, assignments, and presentations, especially in environments where reliable internet or personal laptops may not always be available.

Dove body wash provides a basic yet essential personal care item, ensuring students can maintain their hygiene and well-being as they adjust to dorm life and newfound independence.

This initiative is designed to ease our seniors’ transition, reinforce their sense of preparedness, and show them that their school and community believe in their success. By providing these essential items, we aim to reduce stress and remove small but significant barriers that could otherwise distract them from their academic goals.

What makes our students special is their unwavering drive to achieve and overcome obstacles. As part of the Woodlawn High School community and the Baltimore County Community School Initiative, I see firsthand their determination to break barriers and create new opportunities for themselves and their families. These College Survival Kits are more than just supplies—they are a symbol of support, encouragement, and the belief that our students can and will succeed.
