Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our Montessori high school is so wonderfully diverse and inspiring! Our students come from all different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, and the unity we see on campus is quite extraordinary. A key component for Montessori education is that students can be self-directed, hands-on, and collaborative - which we help to foster in the mental health program and see come to life on campus. Our students are so full of life and are eager to not only learn but love to also pass on their knowledge to others.

Our students are so creative, thoughtful and ready to help their fellow peers!

Our students help boost each other up in times of need, are the first to let staff/faculty know if another student is having a difficult day, and genuinely care about their school environment.

My Project

The class of 2021 never envisioned their senior year to take place online. Although my school has worked so hard to connect with them and continue to make our community feel whole; morale and motivation of our senior class is low. But, they have courageously persevered to stay on top of their work in order to graduate on time and I want to celebrate such an amazing feat during a time when the world is in chaos. I would like to do something for each senior that is tangible, thoughtful and something they can take with them to remember their teachers and faculty.

These souvenirs are the absolute least we can do to make students feel seen, and supported by their school community that cares so deeply for them.

The supplies listed will go towards creating individualized keychains and drink tumblers for each of our 48 senior students. I will make these myself utilizing the vinyl for decals stating the following: "Senior," "Class of 2021," "Senior Name." These key chains and tumblers will be hand delivered, following all safety protocols, by their teachers with personalized letters and notes to each student.
