I teach English (11th and 12th graders)in a comprehensive Title One school where most of our students receive free or reduced lunch.

My seniors are in the process of conducting research for their senior project (a high school exit project), but there is one problem. I cannot properly show them how to use the Internet to their advantage. We use to have a computer lab in the library where teachers can go to teach class or where students can go to find resources on the Internet. This school year, the library's computer lab does not exist; the computers are outdated and do not function properly.

By the end of the year, my seniors need to write and present a senior project. My students are not auditory learners, but visual learners. I cannot simply tell them where to find the information on the Internet or give them a list of instructions because my students will not comprehend. We are in need of an LCD Projector. With the LCD projector, I can show the students how to effectively navigate the Internet. We can discuss the reliability, validity, and authenticity of websites. We can search for medical journals and other hard to find resources online. By the end of the year, my students are also expected to give a presentation for their senior project. Instead of having them create a tri-fold, I want them to create a multi-media presentation. With the LCD projector, students can practice their presentation skills before they have to present their research findings to faculty members.
