This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are just beginning their lifelong learning journey. A tool many of them need is self-regulation and social emotional understanding.

Since the pandemic I have realized many of my students are unable to self regulate and need help calming.

They need to experience calming techniques and understand that it’s ok to feel certain ways. These materials will help me bring more mindfulness and necessary scenarios to them. By using the liquid floor tiles it gives the students a sense of balance and calming as they watch the liquid move. Same with the sensory viewers and windows. When they can breathe and focus on these tools, they can calm and self regulate. The social emotional classroom activities will be wonderful for teaching them about themselves and the world around them. Sometimes problems arise and they need to learn how to get along with friends in difficult situations. All of these social emotional materials will greatly benefit my learners.

By reaching out to them and guiding them in understanding how to interact with peers their school experiences will be better as they can better express themselves and play and enjoy being at school. It’s very important to me to teach self awareness alongside academics in early childhood. Regulating emotions is a large part of my classroom.
