Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Transitioning into in-person learning has been a tough transition for some students. Read-alouds and weighted stuffed animals will comfort my students and help them process their feelings and emotions. Students will be able to process their feelings, with practicing self regulation and self reflection.

These materials in my classroom, will help students process an experience or de-escalate when they are having a difficult time.

The headphones will cancel out distractions and noises that may impact their learning. These calming area materials will be a useful strategy to teach my students self-management. My students will also be able to self reflect and be aware of the emotions that they are feeling.

By having these materials I will be able to give students a safe space where they can practice self regulation skills, while being in the classroom so they can get back to learning when they feel ready. When students are provided a safe space they are able to process all vulnerable emotions in an environment without distraction or judgment.
