My students need encouragement and confidence through the arts so the biggest and scariest of life lessons become easy to accomplish. Painting with the requested easels provides all of that and much more.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Gitlin's classroom raised $640

My Students
From the best place on earth, Brooklyn, New York, my students are hungry, willing, and simply amazing. I teach the whole 8th grade, which is roughly around 300+ students a week. Each are eager to express and explore their inner creativity and imagination. Most of my students consist of African/Caribbean descent who love to dance, sing, and paint/draw. Arts have been proven to increase state assessments and my students need to continue keeping a prideful tradition of high achievement through a rich art program because they are highly motivated in their art making and test scores. This school is not a magnet school for the arts, but in the future, one day, it will be.
My Project
All day and every day, students come in wanting to paint. Paint canvases, paint the walls, the halls, the desk. They eat and breath painting. My students are requesting to paint even more and in order to do this, they need the proper tools necessary to use to get the full results of painting
Painting is very therapeutic with all the mixing of colors.
How colors impact our moods, our thoughts, our understanding of life plays a big role in how they develop as greater human beings. So, painting on easels requested is important because my students need to be exposed to the proper skills and techniques that only easels can provide.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
