Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are sweet, innocent and fun-loving kids. They come from low-income households and have faced many challenges with distance learning. Despite the hardships they are facing with school being closed, they are eager learners.

My students need continued social-emotional support to help them transition into the new school year.

My Project

Therapeutic play is an essential modality to help connect with a child. As counselors, we use play as a tool to foster relationships, help children express thoughts and feelings, and develop coping mechanisms. The COVID pandemic has caused much upheavel in the lives of our children. Those that have been remote have an even greater gap of social emotional development to bridge.

I want to provide my children with an outlet to express their experiences, worries, and hopes for the future.

Legos is a great tool to use when I'm working with my youngest to the oldest student. It is relatable to all students regardless of age, sex, or nationality.

With the help of your generosity, I'll be able to facilitate countless hours of therapeutic play.
