Self-Expression and Skills Through Crafts!

My Project

I am teaching a Craft and Design class at TLC. This class has been amazing for the confidence of many students and has been a major source of comfort for many more. I am proud to be a safe space for many of my students to come experiment and try new things.

This semester, I want to bring a sampling of interesting and unique crafts to my students.

I want to show them how to make candles as well as jewelry and soap, all skills that are great for self-expression but can also lead to marketable skills (should the student want to go down that path). This all leads to the end-of-semester showcase, where students can show off the things they have learned in this class and sell items that they have created. Profit from this event will go back towards the Craft program as well as towards a charity of the students' choice!
