Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students have become well adept at advocating for themselves through use of material choice. I give students many different mediums to work in, and they are constantly asking for materials that bring joy and brightness to their projects. Self choice and using materials they love to create projects centering around their identity gives them freedom to celebrate themselves and have projects turn out the way they want them to look through using quality materials. We typically do a project surrounding community, identity, and self as well as many celebrating culture around food, flags, skin color, and place (mapping) and celebrating our neighborhood.
