Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am contacting donors to request snacks and social-emotional game cards to create a welcoming space where students can connect and build rapport with the wellness team. Providing these resources helps foster engagement, encouraging students to open up and feel supported. A key part of this initiative is sharing bread with students, particularly those experiencing food insecurity or who have had negative past experiences with school.

Food can be a powerful way to build trust and a sense of belonging.

It is essential to be culturally responsive and ensure students feel seen, heard, and valued. By incorporating familiar and meaningful practices, I aim to uplift their voices, allowing them to express their needs in natural and authentic ways. With these resources, including conversation cards and the Essential Skills activities, we can cultivate a space where students feel safe, supported, and empowered to advocate for themselves, strengthening their overall well-being by accessing services at the Wellness Center.
