This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are bright, loving students who learn to become the best versions of themselves. Over this past year, I have seen the effects of the pandemic, and unfortunately, several of my students suffer from anxiety. I ask for stress balls, pin artboards, and other sensory activities to help calm down nerves when the students feel overwhelmed. These sensory activities will also be helpful for students to use during restorative circles. Sensory play encourages learning through exploration, curiosity, problem-solving, and creativity. It helps build nerve connections in the brain and promotes the development of language and motor skills. The community I serve is a special population that would benefit from these resources in the classroom daily.
