My Project

Adolescents from South Jamaica and similar urban communities often face unique emotional challenges due to factors like socio-economic hardship, exposure to violence, and limited access to mental health resources. Social-emotional resources are crucial in helping these young people navigate the complexities of their environments. I am requesting Fluorescent Light Covers, Throw Pillows, CBT Toolbox for Children and Adolescents, and more. Students will be able to use fidgets and other SEL objects to have an experiential counseling session. Programs that offer emotional support, conflict resolution skills, self-awareness development, and resilience-building can provide the tools they need to cope with stress, build positive relationships, and improve their overall well-being. By addressing emotional needs, these resources help break cycles of trauma, empower youth to make healthier decisions, and create pathways to success both in school and life. Supportive, community-based initiatives can be instrumental in fostering emotional growth, giving these adolescents the confidence to overcome obstacles and thrive.
