I teach Multilingual learners. Most of my students are newcomers and beginners in the process of becoming proficient in English. Learning rules, social skills, and regulating emotions in a new school can be challenging.
The Excellerations book set will allow my newcomers to learn feelings, school behaviors, and social skills in both English and Spanish.
The books contain real-world photos with diverse children and adults featured. These books take children through various topics that are important for their growth and development. In addition to the books, a set of build and match emotions blocks. These blocks were created to help children to understand that emotions and feelings vary amongst people, and each emotion can look different from person to person.
I hope these materials will build a safe community in my classroom.
