Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am asking for help to provide snacks, communication tools, and mindfulness games to cultivate an inviting environment to integrate more SEL into my classroom. The whiteboards, poster boards, chart paper, printer paper, and writing supplies will give students multiple mediums to express themselves during SEL activities and discussions. The stickers, snacks, candy, and toys will be used to incentivize participation and engagement. Additionally, there will be rewards for students who exemplify positive behaviors and are observed putting group challenges into action. For example, if we discuss accountability or humility and a student takes action by apologizing, forgiving, or accepting responsibility, they would receive a prize.

Having a trusted adult and supportive peers in a safe space can literally save a student's life!

The purpose of this project is to cultivate and nurture an environment students look forward to. With the aforementioned supplies and the mindfulness games in this project, students will tackle difficult conversations in a non-threatening, interactive setting. High school can be challenging even for the most social and extroverted students so I want to create an equal playing field where human connection and interaction are the main focus.
