My Project

Seeking Sensory's goal is to create a sensory-friendly environment utilizing equipment such as the Cocoon Swing, Sensory Tiles, Indoor Teepee Tent, Fiber Optic Light, and Body Socks. While meeting sensory needs within our school, Seeking Sensory's project will provide a Tier One approach to educate students, teachers, and staff on social-emotion learning accommodations and activities.

The 180 Days of Social- Emotional Learning grades 1-3 curriculum would provide common language, skills, and goals throughout our school.

Our students would benefit from a curriculum that helps explain their emotions and the different tools or activities to bring our bodies and minds back to learning.

Creating a sensory-enriched environment where children feel safe, understood, and accepted is essential to their learning. Items such as Theraputty, a hopper ball, z-vibe, and fidget items will allow our students to explore or trial a plethora of different tools that provide vestibular, proprioceptive, visual, and tactile stimuli. The items for this project provide our students the ability to engage in a break throughout their school day to encourage self-regulation concerning social-emotional or sensory needs.

The students at our school are passionate learners navigating a "new" world with social skills, emotions, and sensory environments. Seeking Sensory item requests will ensure our students have options that help promote independence regarding their sensory and social-emotional needs. We want to develop an environment for our students to continue their exceptional learning while also maintaining appropriate sensory and self-regulation.
