A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My classes consist of great kids that I share with four other teachers. They come from many different backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses. Even though I have students who have a difficult time bringing the basic supplies to school, they come to school ready and eager to learn.
You can see their faces light up as they watch real-life phenomenon unfold with the materials they are given to work with.
The students that come from lower economic backgrounds dive in and tend to take the lead when these activities are taking place. I just love watching them explore and develop a deeper love for science.
My Project
My students need to have engaging ways to explore the scientific process. Motivating students with materials that induce their curiosity and suspense will allow for half of the learning battle to be won. The use of candy, not to mention popular candy that all students love, will help them to engage in the scientific process and make the teaching of the variables to become more attainable.
Since I teach 125 students, being able to laminate the resources for the each student/group would reduce the amount of copies.
Sharpies, highlighters, correction tape, will help the students to mark information in their notebooks.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
