This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are among the youngest group of learners at our school in Bronx, NY. We are 4 and 5 years old, and we love to explore and create every day. We especially love art, stories, science, and problem-solving.

We are enthusiastic, reflective, and resilient and now we are all coming back into the classroom ready to learn.

We come to school every day ready to try out our ideas, ready to share our passions, and ready to learn new skills. We are excited to make this the best year ever!

My Project

Students need to see themselves in the books they read. They need to see characters that look like themselves, their friends, and their families. They need to hear stories that help them understand that even though we may all view the world through a different lens, we can all work together to make this world an amazing place to live.

These materials will help me diversify my kindergarten reading library.

They will help me provide students with books that have characters that they can see themselves in. I want my students to know that they can do anything in this world and this starts by making sure that the materials I am using to teach, include representations of them.
