My students need two sets of ready-made microscope slides, three sets of blank microscope slides, and four "tuff" tote storage bins to engage them in exciting hands-on science learning!

My Students
Have you ever held a grasshopper right up to your eyeball and tried to get a glimpse into his eyes? Have you ever picked a flower and wanted to see way down, deep inside? My students are inquisitive learners just like that, and I want to fan the flame of their learning!
My second grade students attend a small, inner-city, Title I school in South Carolina.
Our school, while filled with over 70% free and reduced lunch, strives everyday to push our students to new heights! We engage our students with the Arts, wow them with our curriculum, and put their hands on every lesson. The are curious learners . . . like little sponges, soaking up every bit of information I can give them. They LOVE science. I work overtime trying to go deeper and get more for their wondering minds.
My Project
The materials in the this project will greatly impact their lives and continue to fan the flame of their learning. Our class inherited a set of microscopes from a retiring teacher, yet we have no slides to view. I frequently show my students microscopic images from the Internet, but how much more engaged would my students become if we had our own slides with animals, insects, and vegetable parts to view. Better still would be blank slides where we could examine cells from their own bodies! I am asking for the storage bins so that the students can store and access the slides easily during independent exploration stations. The slides will be used for many years to come. A simple donation from you, and my kids will be able to see and believe that someone besides me cares for their education!
Seeing truly is believing.
I want to introduce my students to the microscopic world around them. Through your generous donation to this project, my students will be able to explore and examine the tiny world of the unseen. Help make this exciting learning opportunity a reality for my amazing students!
