Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

“Wow, I can see his eyes!” That’s the response of students who were able to use compound microscopes to look at insects when we went on our last Science field trip. In our classroom, we have hand lenses and Magiscopes, but no illuminated microscopes for students to use so they had never seen organisms so closely. Our student population is 98% Hispanic and 98% Reduced/Free lunch. It is an inner city school, where children have limited opportunities to take trips or experience Science outside of the school day. We have a school pond and nature area, and it would be wonderful to have good microscopes for the students to use when exploring Life Science. I am requesting an illuminated compound microscope for the 5th grade Science lab, which will be used by 5 classes of student. Your gift will enable my students to experience the world of microbes, pond microorganisms, and the cells of plants and animals. Please help them “See and Believe!”
