Help me give my students in 6th grade hands on experience in learning about the plant life cycle. The Wisconsin Fast Plant kit allows students to interact with plants to help them grow, develop, and reproduce.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is a public alternative school. Our students have been dismissed from their home school because of disciplinary infractions. The majority of the students are not "bad" students, but have made a mistake. Students are assigned to attend for a minimum of nine weeks. During this time they receive normal classroom instruction as well as the counseling for emotional and behavioral issues. The students I teach science to are 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.
The ah-ha moment is why I teach.
I want my students to not only read about science, but to actually experience it. Recently one of my most troubled students experienced an ah-ha moment. Using a 9 volt battery, tacks and a juice cup he was able to perform water electrolysis. When he could see the chemical reaction occurring, his face lit up like I just gave him an Xbox. I hope that all of my students can experience that feeling.
My Project
I teach science to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Science is a subject that is best taught with hands on activities. Physical manipulation allows students to test the information from the textbooks. Students can then develop their own understanding of how the natural world works.
This project will give each one of my classes the opportunity to perform hands on activities.
Sixth graders will grow their own plants from seeds. Seventh graders will used the density cubes to better understand mass. Eighth graders will use the telescope to see whats beyond the moon in the night's sky. These items will also be used with future students.
